Been tryn'a find this fuckin song for some time now.
So if you have watched either: Transworld's "Sight Unseen" skate video, or Nelson Yu Lik-wai's "Plastic City", then I am willing to bet that you have heard this motherfucker right chya! And maybe you are like me, and thought to yourself: "Damn Self, that sure is one dope ass track!".
It was quite some time ago that I first heard it, and I actually dubbed it from the Sight Unseen VHS (which I rented from the local skateshop) I liked it so much. This was in a time when my resources were a far cry from what I currently have at my disposal. And by that I mean, I had a 28k connection and no working knowledge of how to use the internets as a research tool, not to mention that the information was probably not even present then.
I eventually must have either copied over that mix of dubs or just lost the tape somehow. Subsequently, this song had not entered my mind for many years until yesterday, when I heard it at the beginning of Plastic City a.k.a. Dangkou. As you might imagine my shit was like this one here:
It plays throughout the entire flick and then in its entirety during the credits.
Upon completion of the film the rest of the day was squandered in an attempt to identify the above piece, and as is evident, I was successful. But my quest was not without hardships however, and I ended up supping like a homelessmun. As is sometimes the case, I managed to not exhaust the right piece of information until my second wind; but alas, everything is settled now.
The name of the shit, by the by, is "El Lado Oscuro de mi Compadre" (or "The Dark Side of my Friend" as per Jimmie, my blackanese translator) by Terrestre.
